Topic6Integrated Research Information System
CCS has been working with the Office of Research Services (ORS) to help them transition to a new research information system for tracking U of G research awards and projects. The current solution is using older technology and servers that are nearing end of life and involves multiple systems and manual processes that require duplicate data entry by ORS staff.
The replacement solution - Gryph Forms (U of G's implementation of Process Director by BP Logix) - will utilize current technology that is supportable and will also amalgamate the various bolt-on applications to create an Integrated Research Information System (IRIS). This will bring the administration of research awards and projects into one system, significantly reducing redundant data entry and increasing administrative efficiencies.
This project is being led by ORS’s Laura Beaupre, the Director of Research Analysis and Reporting, along with Senior IT Business Analyst Joan Zador. Other ORS staff have contributed significantly to the development and testing of the solution throughout the project’s life cycle. CCS is supporting the technical aspects of this implementation as well as providing project management, with the following CCS staff playing key roles:
- Alex Letona, Senior Project Manager
- Jeff Egan, Application Database Architect
- Cindy Li, Database Analyst
- Imthiyaz Hameed, Gryph Forms Administrator
The new IRIS is set to launch in April 2019.
This project was approved by the U of G IT Governance Committee (ITGC). For more information on the ITGC, please refer to the Governance + Strategy section of this annual report.
